We are looking for an Architectural Assistant to join our London based teams to work on a full range of projects at all RIBA stages.We predominantly work on high-end residential, hospitality and commercial projects for mainly London estates, developers and contractors.During the time that you would be with us you would work within various studios within the wider practice and we would aim that the project or group of projects you work on would complement your academic studies.

Day to day responsibilities and duties many include:
  • Ascertaining the client's needs
  • Involvement in initial feasibility and sketch designs
  • Being responsible for producing, co-ordinating and checking specifications, drawings and other documents for their project(s) in conjunction with their Team Leader
  • Developing schemes for Planning and other approvals
  • Developing scheme designs to detailed design and on to production information stages.
  • Producing information including drawings, schedules and assistance with specification writing
  • Materials and product sourcing and selection
  • Developing the coordinated design with the input of other consultants, specialists and contractors
  • Site inspections and quality control including dealing with contractors' queries

Our Architectural Assistants work within a wider team and under the guidance of more Senior Architects and Associates.The majority of our projects are drawn in Revit and it is vital that anyone joining the practice as an Architectural Assistant has strong Revit skills.

Desired qualifications

Entry requirements
  • recognised first degree in architecture, 2.2 or above,or
  • level 6 Architectural Assistant apprenticeship certificate,or
  • recognised first degree in architecture which is notified to the European Commissionplus
  • applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including minimum 6/B in maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above)

Non-academic entry criteria, for example, requirements set by professional or sponsoring bodies:
  • confirmation of employment offer in architect's practice registered as hosting L7 apprentices

Future prospects

We strongly support our team members having a good work-life balance.However, we anticipate that there will be many challenges in balancing academic life and project deadlines without burning out. We expect our Architectural Assistants to be able to manage themselves and to be active in flagging when additional support is needed.
