What you will do in your working day

Under supervision actively participate in performing respiratory and sleep clinical investigations to include Spirometry, Reversibility Testing, Diffusion Capacity Testing, Lung Volume Measurements, Blood Gas Analysis, Overnight Pulsoximetry, Overnight Partial Polysomnography and CPAP therapy(Respiratory). Electrocardiography, Ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring; Cardiac Physiologist-led Exercise Testing; echocardiography - TTE, TOE(Consultant led) and Stress; Cardiac catheters, PCI, cardiac device implantation and follow-up service, with ICD/CRT implantation(Cardiac).

The training you will be getting

You will undertake a training scheme over 3 years in a joint venture between University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) and our chosen University. You will be studying towards an AHCS accredited degree in Healthcare Science (Respiratory and Sleep/Cardiology) alongside a structured on-the-job training program. University fees and education costs will be covered by UHL via the national Apprenticeship levy.

Upon successful completion of the first and second year you will have the opportunity to be trained in a variety of non-respiratory and sleep/cardiac investigations.
