Intertek Pharma Services Manchester (IPSM) has an extensive range of analytical instrumentation and provides analytical services to customers in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, personal care and speciality chemical sectors in a GLP, GCP and GMP regulated laboratory.

The role will provide the opportunity to learn scientific skills within a Laboratory setting. On a daily basis you will be exposed to learning processes such as the preparation and analysis of samples using a variety of analytical techniques. You will have the opportunity to grow your skills within a closely monitored environment which offers a hand's on approach to learning.

The role will:
  • Commencing training in practical aspects of one or more techniques, require supervision to generate high quality data
  • Commencing external scientific training (aligned to college/training providers course)
  • Introduction to theoretical basis of the techniques
  • Introduction to some clients' products and processes
  • Problem solving through work based on established methods and well-defined problems
  • All work to be supervised and checked
  • Direct communication with clients will be supported and guided
  • Work priorities determined through Laboratory Manager and Team Leader

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • IT literate
  • Strong numeracy skills with the knowledge of calculating and tabulating results
  • Clear written and verbal communications skills with the ability to clearly convey processes, results and key messages and able to build rapport, quickly and effectively
  • General Qualification in Science such a GCSE's and A Level's or some exposure to working within a laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, laboratory performance standards, handling chemicals, COSHH
  • Understanding of appropriate systems and procedures relevant to scientific and analytical methodologies, required regulatory standards, research/regulatory procedures and instructions

  • Customer Focused
  • Basic knowledge of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry is advantageous

We are currently expanding are looking to do so for the next few years. We want good people all the time and don't want to lose them either. If the candidates are good and impress us we wouldn't want to lose them so there will be opportunities to progress into full time Analyst roles.
