The Company are looking for an apprentice with the ability to write code, an understanding of algorithms/data structure and passionate about software development. The Company are a Microsoft Silver partner and require additional resources to support their development of Microsoft's Dynamic 365 range of products; focusing on Business Central and Customer Engagement.
The role will entail some shadowing of our existing development team in order to understand their systems and practices, this maybe in person or over Skype. The role will be based in their offices near Cobham, Surrey along with 4 other members of the team. Whilst the senior developers are home based or at client premises, they will also visit the office on a regular basis.
Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Working with senior developers to assist with creating product solutions and ideas for clients
  • Identify opportunities to use technology to deliver innovative solutions
  • Planning and implementing newly created apps
  • Contribute to the development of leading-edge solutions, delivered through Microsoft's cloud-based architecture
  • Learn and use the latest programming languages and database technologies, under the tutelage of our senior technical professionals
  • Taking developments, getting them tested and delivering them into operation
  • Learning to write working code in Microsoft's AL code for their ERP package Business Central
  • Working on Navision/Business Central Software
  • Writing and maintaining technical and user documentation
  • Build your experience through a variety of clients/industries
  • Working with .NET
  • Work as an individual for small projects

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • An interest in creating and developing solutions
  • Able to work as part of a team and work independently
  • You will have completed a Level 3 BTEC and/or A level in software development or have hands on experience in a similar role.
  • Ideally some experience with website building or coding
  • Some exposure to latest web technology (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, API's)
  • C# experience would be advantageous, and a knowledge of JavaScript and SQL would be usefully though not critical as training will be given

Personal qualities

  • You will be willing to work hard and eager to learn.
  • An interest in software development.
  • Passionate and willing to learn more about coding
  • An analytical mindset

Desired qualifications

The company require a bright, enthusiastic and hard-working individual with a genuine desire to learn and build a career in the IT sector. You will have a friendly personality, be able to work as part of a team and provide excellent customer service. ·You must have at least a C grade for Maths & English at GCSE
  • A GCSE, BTEC or A/S Level in Business Admin or Business Studies would be beneficial
  • Experience within a customer service, administration or sales role is preferred but not essential

Future prospects

The ultimate goal would be to continue to study for a Level 6 Apprenticeship in order to become self-sufficient in analysing business and technical requirements to select and specify appropriate technology solutions. To be able to design, implement, test, and debug software to meet requirements using contemporary methods including agile development. Configure and deploy solutions to end users.
