You will need a good mix of skills, including attention to detail, patience and a good teamwork ethic. Opportunities exist for the right candidate to build a strong relationship with a very diverse and varied user-base and get involved in a wide range of different technologies.

As a Network Engineer Apprentice your main roles and responsibilities will include:
  • Reporting to a Support team leader
  • The preparation of end user devices in the workshop before deployment to the client.
  • Removing viruses from PC's
  • Testing and labelling equipment
  • Removing hard drives and parts from laptops and desktops
  • Assisting in the preparation of documentation, configuration information and knowledge articles for use in ongoing support of customers
  • Administration of tickets and configurations in our database
  • Assisting with onsite hardware installations
  • Supporting office move and migration projects
  • Data cable, trunking and rack installs
  • Monitoring of Servers, backups and networks and resolving issues where possible
  • Research of new technologies

Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will receive Microsoft training and accreditation through blended learning. This combines online technical training within a virtual classroom, as well as real-world and practical experience with your employer. The certifications you gain are highly respected and globally recognised. The skills, knowledge and experience you will gain whilst on the programme are invaluable, giving you the best possible start in your professional career within the IT sector.

Desired qualifications

  • You will need at least GCSE grade C/4, or equivalent,in both GCSE Maths & English, and in three or four other subjects at least. You will have completed ideally a Level 3 IT apprenticeship or at least a Level 3 BTEC and/or A level in ICT or have hands-on experience in a similar role
  • You will possess a basic to intermediate knowledge of Windows 7 / Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2010/2013/2016
  • You will have knowledge of Office365 Technologies (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive)
  • You will possess a basic knowledge of Windows Server 2012 and 2016, Active Directory, File Permissions, DHCP/DNS Services, BackUp and Recovery and Group Policy
  • You will have some knowledge of Networking (switches and access points) and Internet Connectivity (Routers and Firewalls)
  • You will possess knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Windows-based PC applications

To move into a full-time support engineer role.
