Do you have a keen interest and/ or experience of creating code and adding functionality to a website?
Do you have a creative passion for web design and the willingness to develop your skills?
Can you display excellent oral & written communications skills, as well as strong attention to detail?
If you can answer yes to these questions and have a friendly approach, then we would love to hear from you!
Who are we?
We are the UK's largest university, a world leader in flexible part-time education combining a mission to widen access to higher education with research excellence and transforming lives through education. In KMI we have been at the forefront of innovation for the past 20 years. We are currently on the lookout for a bright and talented System Developer Apprentice to join us at the Open University.
What's in it for you?
As an apprentice, you'll receive on-the-job experience along with formal training to gain the knowledge and skills you'll need to support our organisation.
The qualification achieved will enable apprentices to develop the capabilities they need to progress in a system developer career.
What will you be doing?
As part of our 3 year System Developer Programme, you will work closely with KMi's creative leads to keep our web presence at the cutting edge. You will learn tasks with anything from wire framing the latest concepts, helping to construct demos based on trending patterns to providing support to our users for systems built for the lab.
You will also gain a solid understanding of the most commonly used and industry approved content management system.
Your dedicated mentor and team members will help you gain experience and exposure across the Open University whilst being surrounded by subject matter experts all with a common goal.
You will learn how to write clean and well-designed code, across multiplatform applications, as well as troubleshoot, test and support our project websites, including relevant databases to ensure strong optimisation and functionality.
