The apprenticeship lasts 4 years, with year 1 and 2 helping you to develop core skills across cyber security, data analysis, software engineering and network engineering. Then, in years 3 and 4, you will develop further skills in Software Engineering. Your skills will be tested through a variety of means including online and offline assessments, exams, projects and portfolios.
Importantly, you'll be in a supportive environment and have a community of like minded apprentices around you, as well as mentors and tutors inside and outside of the business, who will guide you throughout your degree.
You will play a key development role, building software solutions that both support and enhance products for our growing energy and telco business. You will be exposed to all of the areas of Software Engineering, with a particular focus on Java.

You'll have the opportunity to gain a degree qualification through the Open University, working alongside industry professionals and receiving support from internal and external mentors. With 4 years worth of on the job training this will provide you with a solid grounding for a future career in technology.
The skills and experiences you gain from this will put you in good stead for a role as a Software Engineer within Shell Energy.
