You will be fully supported by qualified and experienced professionals and your key duties will include:

Managerial:
  • Working as a team member with Allen Staff and other professionals
  • Managing and reporting of financial performance, targets and objectives
  • Developing systems and processes for improved performance and service delivery
  • Undertaking full range of Quantity Surveying duties in new work, repairs and maintenance projects for a wide variety of buildings and market sectors
  • Assisting in establishing client's requirements
  • Undertaking feasibility and Option Appraisals studies of projects including
  • Preparing early stage budgets and detailed cost plans
  • Performing risk and value management exercises
  • Advising on procurement strategy
  • Preparing tender and contracts documents (including bill of quantities where required)
  • Performing cost control during a project
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
  • Preparing costs for Tenders
  • Establishing and operating cost and financial control systems
  • Allocating work to subcontractors (work packaging)
  • Negotiating to ensure budgets are not exceeded
  • Providing advice on contractual claims
  • Analysing outcomes and writing detailed reports on progress
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments
  • Providing post occupancy advice, facilities management services, life cycle costing advice
  • Assisting clients in locating and accessing additional and alternative sources of funds, enabling client to initiate their construction projects
  • Advising on maintenance cost of buildings

Functional:
  • Management of projects in a variety of sectors including Public Sector Housing, Health, Education and Retail
  • Implementing company quality management and other processes on all projects
  • Awareness and compliance with Health & Safety, CDM, Asbestos and other appropriate legislation
  • Keep updated on current and new contract forms and case law, Health & Safety, Asbestos, CDM, DDA and other relevant legislation

Desired qualifications

Entry Requirements:

Stage 1: BSc - Quantity Surveying (Apprenticeship):
  • a) A Level : BBC. Excludes General Studies
  • b) BTEC: DMM in related field
  • c) IB Diploma: 30 points
  • d) GSCE Requirements: 5 GSCEs at grade A*- C (9 to 4) including English Language and mathematics, or specified equivalents

Direct Entry to Stage 2: BEng - Quantity Surveying (Apprenticeship):
  • a) Students who have been awarded an appropriate HND or HNC with a grade of Merit.

**Applicants who do not have the above entry requirements will still be considered on their individual merits where alternative and additional evidence of aptitude, such as extensive practical experience is evident**
