As a degree apprentice you will gain valuable experience as you work alongside different teams and individuals within the group and the wider University whilst studying for aDigital Technology degree. You will play a key role in the management of key organisational projects and will be required to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Commencing in September 2019, the core elements of the four year DTS degree apprenticeship are as follows:
  • A bespoke induction
  • Annual rotation across different areas of DTS
  • Ongoing training support including completion of the BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Professional (IT Consultant)
  • Reviews / appraisals to evaluate learning, development and performance
  • Mentoring support throughout

Desired skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office package
  • Excellent planning and organisations skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail


Personal qualities

  • Ability to analyse and identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Ability to work independently, without supervision
  • Demonstrates a positive approach, with an interest in/commitment to the HE sector


Desired qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) mathematics and English language at, level 2, grade C or grade 4, or above

112 UCAS points from A-Levels or Level 3 BTEC (including IT or Computer Science) or completion of a Level 3 IT apprenticeship

Future prospects

Higher and degree apprenticeships can be for anyone, not just school-leavers, and are an effective way for both existing staff and new starters to work and learn at any stage. Apprenticeships are awarded with a degree or masters, so they are a great way to get valuable work experience as you study.
