Teaching Assistant with PE Specialism

We are looking for an inspiring apprentice to provide general support to our students across both of the trusts schools (primarily working at Brompton Academy, but must be willing to travel to Chatham Grammar for girls) by meeting their social and learning needs and assisting staff in delivering the curriculum with a focus on PE.
Supporting the Students
To supervise and support students in Core PE and extra-curricular activities
To work with students both in and out of the classroom, individually or in small groups.
To support the departments schools ongoing commitment for extra-curricular sporting opportunities for all children.
To support Secondary School games competitions and fixtures.
Supporting the Curriculum
To develop knowledge of literacy, numeracy and ICT. To develop a broad knowledge of additional education needs and how teaching methods can be adapted to meet these needs. To develop and adapt resources to support the curriculum To ensure the needs are met and that sport is accessible to all Support the team and their vision on sport
Supporting the Teacher
To assist the class teacher and other professionals in the delivery of the curriculum
To undertake the additional task e.g. displays, photocopying etc
To contribute to the maintenance of the student’s records
To provide relevant feedback about the students to the teacher
To run breakfast clubs and after school sports clubs
To prepare the classroom equipment, work, resources and tidy as appropriate
To actively support behaviour strategies put in place by the teacher
Support secondary school games competitions and organising teams
Work with admin team and organise trips and fixtures
Supporting the School
To attend the relevant in-service training
To liaise and consult with other members of the team
To be aware of school procedures, behaviour, especially those in relation to Health & safety and Child protection
To maintain confidentiality
To maintain links between home and school
Actively support the school’s behaviour policy
To assist in the organisation and planning of sports events within the school and attend sporting events at other venues with school teams
£199.88 per week, pro rata (based on £6.15 per hour, for 32.5hours per week). Term time only.
Working 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Term time only.
Good ICT Skills
A keen interest in working within a school/learning environment
Able to work on own initiative or as part of a team
Interest in Sport
A minimum of 5 GCSE A*-C (5-9) including English and Maths.
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
The employer has asked that you do not contact them direct. Doing so could jeopardise your application. You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work. Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
