A new opportunity has become available in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for you to train and achieve a degree in Audiology (based at Cheltenham General Hospital). We are looking for a caring individual who wants to develop advanced communication skills.

The post holder will have to demonstrate commitment to the apprenticeship training study requirements and complete training activities and assessments, in the given timescales, which is 4 to 5 years. Work and liaise with the University and academic team. You will need to fully engage in clinical and academic work to enable you to achieve the full range of competences, skills and behaviours within the job description, by the end of the degree programme.

Your apprenticeship in BSc (Hons) in Healthcare Science (Audiology) will enable registration as an Audiologist on completion of the degree. Audiology is a very rewarding career. You will be working with hearing impaired people as part of an enthusiastic team that diagnoses hearing impairment and offers solutions for rehabilitation including hearing aids. We also provide a complete Paediatric service, as well as a balance assessment and a rehabilitation service and a tinnitus counselling service.

The Department serves a population of 617,200 and offers its services to 7 ENT Consultants, over 7 outreach clinics and 2 acute sites. We work in collaboration with Aston University to provide support to Trainee Audiologists at both PTP and STP levels.

The Department offers a direct referral service for the over 50's, as well as the following: Hearing Therapy, Tinnitus management, BAHA fittings, specialist hearing aid clinics. We also have a very strong Paediatric Team looking after 300-350 children with PCHI.

The Trust introduced flexible working, such as 4 long days worked over 5 days. Future service needs may involve evening and Saturday working.

For further information, please contact the Head of service, Anne-Marie B-Mitchell on 0300 422 8350.

Interviews are expected to take place on 8th July 2019.
