Within this apprenticeship, you will join the Software Engineering team reporting to and working under the guidance of the Head of Software Engineering.

At Tempest we have a single software engineering team that reshapes and forms around business problems.
  • You can expect to be assigned to a number of different projects throughout the apprenticeship
  • You will receive work-based training into many aspects of the software development process at Tempest
  • You will work with modern technologies, platforms and frameworks such as, but in no way limited to, Google Cloud Platform, AI and Machine Learning, Node.js, GO and Vue
  • You will also be expected to work with colleagues across the business to understand the problem that they are trying to solve
  • Within the Tempest working environment we will be ensuring that you attain knowledge of general working practices such as Health and Safety, personal effectiveness and professionalism along with interpersonal and written communication

Your initial contribution to the team will be fulfilling a software testing role, supporting the software engineers and business colleagues in ensuring that the software produced fulfils the requirements and meets the high quality standards that the team have set. As your apprenticeship progresses, you will receive training in software development and, where appropriate, it is expected that you will have opportunities to become involved in coding and practise your software engineer skills under the guidance of a Software Engineer.

We also expect that during the 2 years we will arrange for you to have a couple of away days with other companies within the Cornish digital sector to develop a wider knowledge.
