Working week
- Monday - Friday. Hours between 8.00am - 6.00pm. Total hours per week: 37.50

Vacancy description
Essential functions and basic duties:
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
- Manage the appointment system as per Practice policy
- Deal with all general enquires, explain procedures and make new/follow up appointments
- Using your own judgement and communication skills to ensure that patients with no prior appointments, but who need urgent consultation are seen to
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover to ensure procedures are completed
- Receive and make telephone calls as required
- Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery via the computer system
- Oversee and supervise the waiting area and ensure that any delays to patient appointment times are explained
- Collate notes
- Manage chronic illness recalls where appropriate
- Deal with and action all request for ambulances
- Action all personal tasks or appropriate group tasks in a timely manner
- Enter requests for the home visits screen, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details
- Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services
- Enter patient information on to the computer as required
- Patient computerised notes and correspondence
- Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the practice manager

Training to be provided
- Customer Service Level 2 Qualification
- Functional skills and Technical certificate as appropriate.
- Any other training you may need will be provided by your employer.
