The Grange (2016) Ltd are a provider of accommodation and support services to adults with learning disabilities. We support up to 25 people across 3 locations to live enriched, fulfilled and happy lives.


Description of Vacancy
Listening to someone – Yoga – Cinema – Helping with Laundry – Night Clubs – Learning to Cook – Clothes Shopping – Teaching someone to cross the road safely and even trips to Burlesque Clubs. Every day is different when you make a difference!

The post holder will be based in our large residential home in Benenden, near Cranbrook supporting up to 19 people with learning disabilities to live enriched, fulfilled and happy lives. The position has the potential to become permanent on successful completion.

The amazing people who live at The Grange have varied support needs, some individuals require support with all aspects of their daily living whilst others require more emotional and wellbeing support.

You will need to work in line with individuals support plans, guidelines and risk assessments. You will work with people in varied activities and pastimes whilst achieving their own goals and maybe even some of your own.

With guidance from the leadership team the post holder will build robust relationships with and provide assistance to supported individuals with all aspects of their support needs. This may include but is not limited to personal care, planning and preparation of meals, nutrition awareness, emotional support and support to maintain healthy, active lifestyles and participate as members of their local community.

You will write detailed and factual accounts of the support you have provided and contribute to updating support plans.

You will be required to support individuals with their health needs which will include administration of medications and supporting them with regular health checks.

You will be required to liaise with family members and other professionals including GP’s, Health services and Care Managers.

You will work in line with legislative guidance including Safeguarding protocols and Mental Capacity Act.


Wage
A staggered salary increment based on completion of qualification.

Wages are paid on the 24th of each month for the full month (e.g. April pay will be made on 24th April covering the 1st – 30th of the month) with additional hours or enhancements paid 1 month in arrears.

Starting rate £6.15 – £227.55 p/w

After 6 months £6.60 – 244.20 p/w

After 12 months £7.40 or NMW for age band £273.80 p/w

On completion £8.25 – £305.25 p/w

Sleep in duties £75 per night

An additional £1 per hour is paid for day hours worked at the weekend.


Hours
Working over the 7 day week the post holder will work 5 shifts which will include the following shifts totalling 37 hours per week:
0800 – 1515
1445 – 2200
The roster will allow for every other weekend off
Once suitably trained and experienced the post holder can undertake additional sleep in duties 2200 – 0800.


Skills Required
Due to the location of the service the post holder will be required to be a driver with use of vehicle.

All skills are seen as an advantage and an opportunity to share your skills with the people we support, for example craft, gardening, cooking / baking.

Qualifications Required
A* – D GCSE English and Maths


Training Provided
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards

Additional Detail

As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.


Important Information
