Dover District Council is actively regenerating the district with multi-million pound investments in new commercial and leisure developments and new homes.

Description of Vacancy

This new apprenticeship will work closely with the tourism team to continue building and supporting the council’s aspiration of developing Dover district as a recognized world class tourism destination.

The role is varied and interesting and will involve supporting the tourism team to write and deliver a new tourism strategy, which will underpin the districts future tourism agenda.

Some of the duties will include handling a wide range of enquiries, which can be in person, by email, telephone, Twitter and Facebook. The post will also assist with the marketing element – both digital and printed.

The post will be integral to supporting the team with research, preparation of statistics and also be involved with both internal and external stakeholders.

The post will support and assist with:

Daily administration duties and answer enquiries from the public – in person, by email, telephone, Twitter and Facebook.

The White Cliffs Country Marketing campaign, both printed and digitally.

Help collate research and prepare statistics as required.

Maintaining all Tourism financial administration, e.g. invoices, purchase orders etc.

Help to support internal and external groups and stakeholders as required.

Writing for and editing the website with available materials (text, images, and videos) to ensure its reach, interest, accuracy and inspiration to the identified audience.

Help to assist with PR and Media requests.

Help with the setting up of promotional activities and exhibitions.

General office duties as required.

Hours

Monday to Friday

9am – 5.15pm

(37.25 hours)

1 hour lunch break (unpaid)

Qualifications Required

Numeracy and Literacy skills at Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE Grades A*/9 -C/4)

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
