Employer Description

Blair Park is a care home for up to 43 residents with a dementia. We provide 24 hour care and attention 365 days of the year.

We encourage training and will support staff with regular supervisions.

Description of Vacancy

Do you want to make a difference to people's lives? As a carer you will support our residents with all aspects of their personal care, whilst trying to encourage them to maintain as much independence as possible with a safe environment.

We like to encourage a family atmosphere - is this something you would like to be a part of?

Providing hands on care and attention for vulnerable older people with dementia.

Assisting people to the toilet - ensuring personal hygiene needs are met.

Ensuring residents privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.

You may need to assist someone with feeding if they are unable.

There is likely to be some manual handling of people but training will be given.

Hours

Seven days a week needs to be covered, including weekends on a rota basis.

Shift pattern days will be:

7am - 1pm - 1/2 hour unpaid break

1pm - 8pm - 1/2 hour unpaid break

7am - 8pm - 1 hour unpaid break that can be split up

Shift pattern on nights if you are 18 and over will be:

8pm - 7am - 1 hour unpaid break that can be split up

Skills Required

We need someone who is kind and caring and wants to make a difference to others lives.

Someone who can listen and put into action what they have learned.

Apprenticeship carers who will work and earn whilst undertaking training to the Level 2 Health and Social Care diploma. If an Apprentice already has the Level 2, we will support up to the Level 3 whilst they work and earn money.

Qualifications Needed

GCSE A-D in maths and English or equivalent

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

Important Information

Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
