You will be joining theCentral Procurement &ContractsTeam (CPC Team) to befully involved with driving forward a robust approach to strategic sourcing and supplier management across the organisation and in support of the firm's strategy and purpose initiatives.

Apprentices will be eligible for membership at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Some flexibity regarding working 9am to 5;30pm is required.
Your office attendance will be 4 days a week. There will be 1 day a week off site training.
Your main office location is Birmingham. However, this is a national role with travel to other UK offices.
The primary purposes of the role will be:
- To support the Procurement Team in spend analytics, all procurement and sourcing activities including tender exercises and contract management matters
- To support the Procurement Category Managers to ensure Pinsent Masons' procurement function operates according to good industry practice and works efficiently to support the agreed categories of spend or potential spend areas of Pinsent Masons LLP and its affiliates nationally and internationally
- To support the development of the Procurement infrastructure, wider buying community and tool sets to support the sourcing & supply process
Main duties and responsibilities:
Spend analysis:
- Undertaking training on the firm's contract database and Microsoft Excel
- Performing basic supplier spend interrogation
- Retrieving and interpreting invoices to provide detailed descriptions to back up spend analysis where necessary
Sourcing:
- Shadowing tenders run by Procurement Category Managers - to gain exposure to different categories / stakeholders and 'sourcing styles'
- Support tender processes, pulling together Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents
- Completing CPC sourcing and contracting templates
- Completing standard order forms and change control notes
- Shadow Data Analyst, each quarter run a savings session
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):
- Shadow Category Managers at supplier meetings
- Take ownership of the SRM report
Contracts:
- Gain a basic understanding of the firm's standard terms and conditions
- Understand why and what is covered in the firm's Contract Approval Form.
- Shadow and support CPC Team PA uploading contracts (taking ownership of one or two functions)
Other:
- Attend CPC training, producing training materials
- Spend some time in a number of business operations departments
- Support CPC Team diversity initiative and analysis
- Support PA with CPC Team newsletter and maintaining CPC intranet site
- Take on a lead role in developing a capacity planning approach across sourcing and contracting
- Identify new technologies to improve CPC processes

- Good communications skills, both orally and in writing (word and e-mails)
- Good time management skills
- Good numeracy and financial analytical skills (Excel)
- Understanding of the principles of value for money and an ability to apply them in category or categories
- Computer literate and experience using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

- Although we do have minimum academic requirements we are willing to accept applications from candidates who have mitigating circumstances or feel like they can demonstrate the required qualities and behaviours and an interest in Procurement
Future prospects
- There may be opportunities for further qualifications and/or careers opportunities at Pinsent Masons for individuals successfully completing the apprenticeship
