The role:

You will support the management of the Company's estate working with a team of surveyors who look after the 28,000 hectares of land and property owned primarily for the collection of good quality raw water for treatment and use by our customers.

You will be typically involved in rent reviews, drawing up new agreements, new lettings, surrenders of old agreements, learning to manage land within National designations such as SSSI land and listed buildings, illegal grazing and the disposal of land no longer needed.

A proportion of your time will be spent outdoors, visiting and liaising with tenants to discuss relevant matters, surveying the condition of land and buildings, as well as ensuring that tenancies are being run as agreed. The day to day work varies and your apprenticeship will be fully supervised whilst offering opportunities to demonstrate individual responsibility and initiative.

  • To be an active member of the Yorkshire Water Apprentice Group, working co-operatively with other apprentices and always setting excellent standards for yourself and others
  • At all times to behave in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with the Health and Safety and Equality legislation relating to the individual responsibilities and to promote and act in the Employer's best interests
  • Be self-motivated, always willing to learn new skills and take pride in everything you do
  • Be comfortable in working outdoors

Desired qualifications

  • You must have or be expecting at least 3 A Levels at Grade C or higher or equivalents
  • You will also need to have Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalentin English Language and Mathematics to satisfy the requirements of our training provider
