At Forry Limited we are very passionate and dynamic and need an apprentice who will fit in and have the confidence to get involved from the start. Whilst you don't need any construction experience, it is desirable. You will need to be a fast learner with a desire to acquire new skills quickly. If you think this is you, then read on.

During your apprenticeship your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing an understanding of the procurement process to realise best value whilst maintain quality and safety standards
  • Drafting and preparation of trade package scope o works for tendering and contractual purposes
  • Develop relationships with supply chain partners and clients
  • Assisting the project teams with measurement, take offs and valuations
  • Assist the project team with the preparation of payment notices, final accounts and interim external valuations
  • Assisting the project teams with the management of costs through the construction phase of the project
  • Valuing the cost of any variations during the construction phase
  • Raising and responding to contractual notices
  • Contract vetting
  • Forensic reviews of records for construction claims
  • Collecting evidence of delays an undertaking cause and effect analysis
  • Analysis of delay impact programme and drafting associated narratives
  • Quantum analysis of delay and disruption
  • Input to dispute resolution activities as and when such matters arise

Requirements and prospects

  • Some construction background/experience
  • Have a good head for numbers & enjoy working with IT

Desired qualifications

As NTU standard entry requirements shown below; plus Full UK driving license.

Applicants for this course will need to meet the standard BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management FT/SW entry qualifications.
  • A-levels - BBC; or
  • BTEC Extended Diploma - DMM; or
  • 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications; and
  • GCSEs - English and maths grade C/4

Applicants applying without A-levels will have their qualifications assessed for subject compatibility.

All successful applicants must meet the criteria for Apprentices set by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA).

Future prospects

We are looking for a long-term relationship with our apprentices and we have a long-term career structure in mind, whereby we see the apprentice developing into senior roles within our business as it grows. With this in mind, in addition to Quantity Surveying we will provide our apprentices with exposure to general management and business development activities.

Things to consider

Whilst the role is based in the Midlands, Forry Limited predominantly operates across Midlands, North West, London and South East regions so (as is standard within the Construction Industry) you will be required to travel to our clients' sites and projects. This may require regular (reimbursable) travel and on occasion overnight stays.
