This is a development role and as such the role and the responsibilities will grow with you.

Within the role you will:

* Learn the requirements and skills needed to become a Network Designer

* Learn the customer requirements and the expectations of designs

* Specifically focus on learning the aspects of the telent Transport Division

* Input circuit data accurately into Customer bespoke databases

* Liaise with design engineers to resolve circuit and design queries

* Interpret circuit requests and translate to requirements

* Update Visio drawings as directed by the Lead Engineer

* Identify anomalies and highlight to the Lead Engineer

* Regular updates of customer Design Tools

* Attend inter disciplinary reviews to verify circuit details are accurate

* Ensure designs are completed in line with requirements

* Help produce design drawings and documentation

* Help produce a Bill of Materials associated with designs

* Provide technical support to junior team members

* Help produce initial equipment configurations to enable staging and testing activities

* Collate and produce as-built documentation and associated test results

* Report progress at regular intervals to the Lead Engineer

Mission Critical Networks. Spanning the globe carrying trillions of bits of data - Safely, Securely and Reliably. They don't happen by accident. The Network Design Engineer makes the key decisions to enable Network Engineers to build the networks.

How big? How many users? Copper, Fibre or Wireless? Which devices to use? How long will it take? How will it be secured? How much power will it need? What if a link fails? How reliable is it? The Network Design Engineer works out all those details and more.

The Network links it all together; CCTV, alarms, alerts, signalling, voice calls, sensors, communications. telent wants to invest in you to teach you the skills to be able to design Networks for real situations

The Specifics:

* The apprenticeship is variable and can last 18 to 24 months

* On completion of the scheme you will have a Level 3 qualification as an Infrastructure Technician

* On completion of the scheme you will be a fully qualified telent Assistant Network Design Engineer and have the opportunity to integrate into the full time workforce

* The apprenticeship is a managed scheme with a mix between virtual classroom training and office development learning from our highly skilled workforce

What will you need?

* Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4. Specifically, in Maths, English and Science or an IT related subject (A* to C)

* To have a Full UK driving licence would be beneficial

* Be 18 years of age from September 2019

* Be able to pass government vetting and police Security Clearance

* To excel, develop and succeed in the telent apprenticeship scheme you must:

* Have an interest in telecommunications, data transmission and networking

* Be a quick learner and have a passion for acquiring new skills

* Have an interest in developing your skills

* Have a keen eye for detail

* Be able to commit 100% to the programme and your personal development

* Basic Knowledge of Windows operating systems

* Basic knowledge of ICT applications (ideally drawing software)

* Have a strong focus on Client and customer service

* Experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders

* Strong planning and organising skills

* Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

* Be an effective communicator both written and verbal

* Have a positive, can-do attitude

* Be able to work as part of a team
