You will be supporting the Senior Officer (Compliance) in the implementation of a compliance function in the day to day delivery of the AEB (Adult Education Budget) programme including, audit, claims and quality assurance processes.

Work alongside the AEB team to ensure a strong evidence base.

Work with the Senior Officer (Compliance) (in conjunction with the wider AEB team) in the testing and compliance of all AEB grant funded contracts and contract for services, ensuring:
  • Risk based audit work in compliance with ESFA Standards
  • Quality Assurance and compliance of delivery partners and their sub-contractors, including regular monitoring and auditing of activities
  • Performing tests and analyse to evaluate the effectiveness of provider controls
  • Identify any quality concerns of delivery partners and their sub-contractors
  • Identify any financial risks and issues
  • Communicating and escalating findings as necessary, in line with risk ratings and internal processes
  • Support Senior Officer (Data) to manipulate and analyse data as required to inform compliance visits
  • Collect and compile data froma variety of different sources to inform audit and compliance reports
  • Support the AEB team on auditing internal processes i.e. provider claims
  • Assist in the implementation and delivery of the AEB Audit Plan using a risk band approach
  • Assist in the summarising and presenting of audit/compliance reports to internal and external customers

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook would be essential in this role

Desired qualifications

Hold 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above, Grade 9-4 (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English and ideally ICT/Computer Science.

Ideally have completed your Level 3 studies (A-Levels, BTEC Level 3 or Level 3 Apprenticeship).

Future prospects

The expected duration of the apprenticeship is 18 months, however the post is permanent.

With both a level 4 qualification in Internal Audit and experience in the role, the apprentice will be in a strong position to begin a career in audit, with the opportunity to find employment in a professional capacity in this or other organisations.

Things to consider

The apprentice will receive an annual increment each April taking the salary up to £18,457. The post includes a staff travel pass giving free travel on public transport within Merseyside.
