Duties and Responsibilities:
Data collection and review (approximately 50% per week)
  • Collate data in preparation for the REF 2021 submission
  • Ensure that all information is recorded accurately and provide reports as required
  • Evaluate and pre-process raw information, interpreting information within parameters
  • Support the team to maintain accurate, timely and legible records
  • Identify data discrepancies, duplications or errors, and correct or escalate these within set parameters

Administration support (approximately 20% per week)
  • Maintain electronic filing systems in line with the organisation's policies and procedures, and for external auditing
  • Undertake basic administration duties, for example preparing documents for committee meetings (creating, compiling and printing documents)and electronic filing and photocopying
  • Attend and take part in JRES team meetings and contribute to regular reviews with the line manager (Research Strategy and Development Manager)

Learning and Development (20% per week)
  • Undertake and complete a Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 4

Query Resolution (approximately 5% per week)
  • Engage promptly and proactively with relevant parties to answer queries and coordinate responses in an efficient and timely manner

Other (approximately 5% per week)
  • Undertake associated duties which may be required in accordance with the job grade

The workload split is approximate and may change as the role develops and at different points of the academic year.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of an office environment either through work experience, summer placements or previous employment
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing (SS, INT, ST)
  • Computer literate - integrated General Ledger systems, MS Word and Excel as a minimum (AF, INT)
  • Good record keeping skills. (AF, INT)
  • Good numeracy skills (AF, ST)
  • Good at problem solving skills (AF, ST)

Desired qualifications
