To develop the skills, experience and knowledge required of the role.
To undertake the relevant qualifications as defined by the apprenticeship standard or framework. All duties listed will be undertaken with supervision, guidance and instruction appropriate to the level of qualification.

Your current duties and responsibilities are:
  • To undertake a development programme leading to a Level 4/5 National Vocational Qualification as part of an apprenticeship.
  • Provide administrative and/or technical support within the relevant service area as required.
  • Work on own initiative to meet deadlines with direction as and when required
  • To take part in meetings, supervision, training as requested by the manager
  • Assist with the recording of budgetary information and maintain records as required
  • To actively participate in own development plan which will be agreed with the line manager and the assessor from the training provider.
  • Undertake a wide range of duties using a variety of office and/or technical equipment.
  • Provide a courteous customer service including responding to queries from employees and customers.
  • Respond to routine written correspondence as directed by supervisor.
  • Collate statistical information and prepare appropriate returns as required.
  • Comply with the Council's financial procedures and accounting instructions.
  • Maintain an efficient filing and electronic document record system.
  • To be committed to the Council's core values of serving Trust, Unity and Progress and to demonstrate the core values at all times in the way duties are carried out.
  • To participate in the operation of the Council's Appraisal Scheme
  • It is your responsibility to carry out your duties in line with the Council's policy on equality and be sensitive and caring to the needs of the disadvantaged, promoting a positive approach to a harmonious working environment. You should act as an exemplar on these issues and should identify and monitor training for yourself and any employees for whom you are responsible, in line with this policy and also the Equalities Act 2010
  • Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post to assist the Service Area in the fulfilment of its objectives commensurate with the post holder's salary grade, abilities and aptitudes
  • The post holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities with due regard to the Council's policy, organisation and arrangements for Health and Safety at Work

Desired skills

  • Ability to analyse data. Some previous work experience of supporting the delivery of business projects
  • Ability to communicate at all levels through an approachable manner

  • Knowledge of and ability to utilise Microsoft office based packages (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Demonstrate some basic knowledge of specific service area and a willingness to learn more

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE at Grade C (new Grade 4) or above in maths and English or equivalents

Future prospects

  • The main emphasis of the role is to work towards the achievement of the level 4 or 5 qualification within the term of the placement.Must be prepared to undertake further training as and when required during trainee term
