Are you enthusiastic, motivated and keen to gain valuable work experience, a qualification and earn a salary of between GBP8,391 to GBP15,840 per annum?* Would you like to achieve a Level 3 Chef Apprenticeship standard?

We are currently seeking an Apprentice who is keen to develop their skills as an Advanced Chef by working in our in-house restaurant, Shelley's, and food outlet, The Granary. You will develop skills in a broad range of culinary areas including generating and implementing menu ideas, stock management and preparation methods for meat, poultry, fish and vegetables. All of which will enable you to prepare for your end point assessment, working with your your Assessor to ensure you can demonstrate the skills learnt.

You will also be required to support our internal and external events and correspond with customers and promoting Shelley's as well as taking bookings. As part of your apprenticeship you will also receive Barista training to enable you to serve coffee provided by Paddy & Scott's. As well as developing your skills in a kitchen environment, you will also play a supervisory role to any Level 2 Apprentices and students by supporting, coaching and guiding them to build on their skills both in the kitchen and in a customer facing environment.

During your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to participate in trips and demonstrations and talks from potential future employers that are run within the team. Some of these trips may include visits to award winning hotels and establishments or hearing from a guest speaker renowned in the catering industry.

As a Level 3 Apprentice within the catering team at Suffolk New College, you would support the Head Chef with the managing of the College's Restaurant and catering outlet The Granary. Your role will be varied depending on which location you are working in and may include supporting students who are undertaking lessons in those areas at that time. The role will also allow you to contribute to the menu planning and marketing ideas for the restaurant, allowing you to add value to the restaurant service and wider team.
