We are recruiting for an Apprentice to join us on a fixed term basis as an Assistant Accountant. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop their career and assist the Finance Manager with the production of accounts.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Finance Manager, tasks shall include but not be limited to:
  • Adherence to the HICSE Business Management System
  • Aged debtor reporting
  • All aspects, relating to Value Added Tax
  • Audit support (internal and external)
  • Bank payments; bank reconciliation; cash flow forecast reporting
  • Charge card and Concur administrator; expenses processing
  • Flexible benefits
  • Prepayments and accruals
  • Purchase ledger input, control and supplier statement confirmation
  • Sales invoicing and pro-active credit control
  • Stock count and related journal
  • Fixed assets
  • Invoicing, accounting and reporting
  • Procurement process support
  • Automate routine tasks (with support from Finance Manager)
  • Be safety net to ensure correct GL account postings
  • Create work instructions for your area
  • Look at streamlining the day-to-day Finance processes
  • Support solving problems relating to HEU Shared Services

Actual Salary is £16,000 per annum

  • Desired qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 GCSES at grace C (4) and above including maths and English, or equivalents
    • AAT Level 2, 3 or relevant experience within accounting is essential.
