As a Control/Electronics Degree Apprentice you will be responsible for a key element of work on a project,taking a significant role in technical delivery as well as managing aspects of time, cost and quality, whilst acquiring technical, leadership and project management skills and experience. Degree Apprentices career development opportunities will be in undertaking roles requiring control/electronics functions across skills which exist across the Costain business. - Work with other Senior Engineers to develop control / monitoring / communications / security philosophies and detailed designs for industrial applications. All in compliance with Costain, client, UK and International regulatory requirements
- Development of equipment data sheets, detailed equipment specifications and purchase requisitions in accordance with project requirements.Typical equipment would include programmable control and safety systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA), measurement instrumentation, communications and security systems such as CCTV and access control
- Technical analysis of vendor and subcontract documentation packages to ensure compliance with specification and regulatory requirements
- Preparation of Factory and Site equipment / package Acceptance Tests (FAT and SAT)
- Development of detailed installation designs utilising the latest computer aided design tools both 2D (eg AUTOCAD) and 3D modelling packages
- Onsite construction support and commissioning
- Develop and implement the project plan to ensure project deliverables are produced in line with it

- Have three A Levels (or equivalent) in STEM subjects at grade B or above
- Be organised and able to work well to deadlines

- Have the ability to do many things and be able to choose what is the most important
- Be interested in getting it right the first time

- Be able to work well within a team and equally on your own
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be prepared to undertake assignments either in Costain offices or project locations anywhere in the UK
Desired qualifications
- Have three A Levels (or equivalent) in STEM subjects at grade B or above
- Have GCSE Grade C/4 or above in maths and English (or the equivalent)
