We are looking for enthusiastic web developers who are keen to learn and add to their existing web development skills. They will learn how web development inan agency environment works, from start to finish.
This is an incredible opportunity to learn the fundamental skills necessary tostart a career in web development. Training is provided by highly skilledprofessional web developers who will equip you with the knowledge andexperience to fast track your way to becoming a web developer. Everything youlearn during the training sessions will be absolutely current and directlyapplicable to your work. Online training is provided to very quickly teach you thefoundational languages of web development. Throughout the apprenticeshipplacement you will learn more languages and begin to specialise in your chosenarea.

In the workplace you will be designated a Mentor who will be responsible for your learning at work. Group training willalso be provided with other web development apprentices and we use slack(industry standard messaging app) to keep in touch with all the apprentices, mentors, trainers and past apprentices across the country. At various points inthe year groups of apprentices will get together for residential field trips, forexample a conference, hackathon or group training or team building.

Your duties will include:
  • Being responsible for any ongoing web development work such as changes and fixes for websites previously built and hosted by Digital Storm;
  • Being responsible for updates and fixes on all websites that are paying us for monthly maintenance;
  • Being responsible to the marketing team executing on all web needs for clients with us for monthly marketing services. This includes activities such as building landing pages, setting up forms andintegrations, working with Google tag manager and Facebook's pixel, adding andchanging content, adding functionality and editing existing pages.
  • You will alsobe expected to develop an SEO understanding and assist with page optimisationand metadata population.

The role is a new one for Digital Storm and thus there is opportunity for the scope of the role to change, potentially to involve testing sites built inhouse or the development of websites start to finish for certain clients.

We are looking for Apprentice Web Developers; people that enjoy programming, coding and building websites. You must be passionate about web development, self-motivated, determined to learn and develop new skills and driven to succeed.

We are looking for someone who shows an interest in web development and anenthusiasm for learning new things. Someone who uses a range of learningresources to develop new skills, such as online, books or trial and error. You willdefinitely need to enjoy learning and exploring, as there's always something newto master in this industry and everything changes pretty fast. Web developmentis not just about code, you will need to be able to communicate well with yourteam and maybe clients too. You'll also need to be reliable and have a can-doapproach to your workload. Asking questions is often key to developing newskills quickly but you will also be required to research and learn things byyourself.

Personal qualities

Someone with an enthusiastic and professional attitude and a commitment tolearning new skills. You will need to be punctual, reliable, honest and have astrong work ethic. You must be able to work as part of a team and contribute toteam meetings, but also able to work on your own to targets and deadlines.

Desired qualifications

Ideally 5 A*-C/9-4 GCSEs (or equivalents) including maths, English and ICT.

Future prospects

If you do well in this apprenticeship you will be offered a permanent position. Eighteen months experience and training should give you the level of skillsrequired to seek another position as a Junior Web Developer.
