Projects:

You will come together with a team of proficient and experienced Engineers to work on industry-defining projects. You will be given the space to grow personally and professionally, building a flexible career that works for you. Our Technical teams are involved in some of the UK's most high profile, complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK's most prestigious and challenging projects.

Duties to include:
  • Prepare accurate, competitive and detailed technical quotes based on information received via post, e-mail or fax
  • Deliver quotes within set timescales to maintain company's customer service targets
  • Prepare load assessments and load calculations imposed on lintels using BS5977 'Methods of Assessment of Loads' based on the analysis of architects and structural engineers drawings
  • Specify standard off-the-shelf products, and also custom-made items designed specifically for relevant projects
  • Prepare lintel calculations at the customer's request to satisfy building control authority
  • Carry out an individual design service of any non-standard or bespoke steel lintels
  • Issue confirmation drawings for the customer's approval for special lintel orders received
  • Highlight opportunities for the supply of other Keystone Group products to the relevant departments
  • Answer technical phone queries, whilst serving the customer with the highest level of technical and customer service
  • Periodic office and site visits to develop customer relationships and to measure up/solve technical issues
  • Collate information and prepare clear and structured technical reports on findings from site
  • Ensure the Keystone scheduling service is accurate, cost- competitive and returned within the agreed time-frame to maintain the company's customer service targets

The role will allow you to access "on and off the job training" gaining knowledge and hands on experience of supporting our teams in their delivery of exciting projects.

Typically, an Apprentice will work 4 days per week with one day a week release to university.

By the end of your Apprenticeship, you will not only have gained a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, you will also have worked towards and achieved a Bsc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Derby University.

Desired qualifications

  • 96 UCAS points or equivalent required
  • Apprenticeship candidates will typically have at least three A levels at grades A*- C including mathematics and physical science or their equivalent
