DHL Air Ltd is the largest all-cargo air carrier in the UK operating a fleet of B757-200 and B767-300 aircraft on worldwide operations. We are part of the DHL Express team with our headquarters at East Midlands Airport in the UK. We are currently expanding our global reach and enhancing the team to deliver our customer promise of; Excellence, Simply Delivered.

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals with an avid interest in engineering to apply to join us as an aircraft maintenance apprentice.

Over a 30-month period you will:

Complete a fully approved EASA Part 66 CAT A1 training course.

Inital 8 months residential training based at Humberside International Airport, Kirmington. This will include a mixture of both practical and classroom work.

After the first 8 months, you will then go on to be based at East Midlands Airport to work alongside highly respected, skilled and knowledgeable maintenance and engineering teams to build your practical, hands-on experience.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have achieved the 'A1' Aircraft Maintenance Licence. This will enable you to take full advantage of your new skills and knowledge by being one of a team certifying aircraft fit for flight with a approved maintenance organisation.

Requirements:

In order to join us you must be highly motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You will need the ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure. Outstanding interpersonal, communication and team working skills are also essential. Shift work will be required as part of the role (including days, nights, weekends and Bank/Public Holidays)

You also need to hold the following:

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4 (C) or above including English, maths and Science Additionally, you will hold (or be predicted) 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) at grades C/4 or above one of which must be a Mathematics or Science based subject.
  • engineering process and practices
  • regulatory and quality requirements
  • analytical methods (engineering mathematics)
  • aeronautical sciences
  • material sciences
  • business improvement techniques
  • technical skills that can be applied in a range of aerospace disciplines

Desired skills

5 GCSEs A-C (or equivalent) including English, Maths and Science.

2 A-Levels grades A-C (or equivalent). One of which must be a Mathematics or Science related.

Desired qualifications

5 GCSE's at Grade C (4) or above or equivalent in maths, English, Science plus 2other subjects.Additionally, you will hold (or be predicted) 2 A-Levels grades A-C 9/4 (or equivalent) one of which must be a Mathematics or Science related subject or equivalent qualifications in the relevant subjects.

Things to consider

Your training will take place in Humbersidewhich will mean you will be away from home during the week.

Self-catering accommodation will be provided which will be shared with other apprentices.

You will be responsible for preparing your own meals during the time you are away from home which includes the purchaseof groceries.
