Project handover from tendering (Estimating) to Project team:
  • Review package including specification / plant & equipment schedules /drawings and fully understand all different schemes required by the Client.
  • Lead and Chair the Engineering Review Meeting for the Project at and during the Project Pre-Construction phase.
  • Generate questionnaire for tendering team with an aim to establish correct costs for each element of the schemes. These may also include defining exact requirement for design development of any element of the project.
  • Establish clear requirement at Handover meeting and subsequent discussions with tendering team. Verify Project Costs with some elements remaining as budget until procurement and design development stage is completed.
  • Contribute to the Validation Gate Review in order to understand Engineering implications.
  • Establish that Client's design is in compliance with Regulations and By-Laws.

Procurement / Design development.

  • Review the Project requirements in detail and fully understand all different schemes and establish that all requirements are covered to provide Building Services as perceived by the Client.
  • Generate questionnaire for Client and Design Consultants to establish answers so that Design document with answers from Client and Design Consultants provides clear understanding of the Project requirement.
  • Carry out value engineering whether required by project or not to establish cost savings and understanding the entire design. This may highlight incomplete Client's design, design faults etc.
  • Procure packages in line with Imtech PDS and QA/ Procurement procedures and commence / monitor development of installation drawings.
  • Make economic procurement that is fully compliant with specification / performance and can fit into space allocated.
  • Make quality technical submittal packages for Client's approval.
  • Review the quality and co-ordination of installation drawings and minimise poor quality drawings and their contribution t delay and additional costs.
  • Own and manage the Drawing Production Process.
  • Interact with the Client, Builder and Consultants and establish good relationships through a professional, personable approach and timely response to their requirements.
  • Ensure that at the end of this process all major / minor equipment procurement is in place, including sub-contract package.
  • Ensure that all elements of supply, installation, testing/commissioning requirements are fully covered in sub-contract packages.
  • Generate Technical Interface checklists.

Construction & Installation Phase.

  • Assist the Project Manager with the Development of the programme for installation and completion.
  • Ensure compliance with HSEQ policy and directives
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting.
  • Attend progress meetings with Client / Builder and other trades.
  • Liaise with and organise regular meetings with relevant Imtech Sub-contractors.
  • Monitor installation quality to ensure compliance with specification, industry standards, Imtech PDS & QA procedures and relevant BS / regulatory standards.
  • Work to ensure that progress is in line with agreed programme.
  • Review/ adjust installation programme from time to time to recover lost time without adding costs to the project.
  • Communicate with/Inform/guide Construction management & Supervision in the delivery of a quality installation.
  • Communicate with the Client, Builder and Consultants and other trades, Imtech sub-contractors, specialist vendors and Imtech Construction managers.
  • Ensure that progress and effective relationships are maintained via a professional approach and timely resolutions of queries.

Other tasks :
  • Expediting material, tracking orders, producing progress reports for the Client and Imtech.

Testing / Commissioning and Handover
  • Influence the planning and execution of Product Testing / Commissioning and Handover programme.
  • Liaise effectively with Engineering team or Consultants to establish all commissioning parameters.
  • Communicate with specialist vendors carrying out testing / commissioning of major equipment.
  • Establish commissioning requirements i.e flow rates pressures, temperature settings, trip settings for overloads etc.
  • Obtain and/or develop detail commissioning method statements and procedures for Client's approval and Lead the Performance testing of equipment on site including Life safety systems and Environmental systems ( Proving and verification).

Other tasks will involve:
  • Generating commissioning reports, commissioning progress reports, liasing with Client's commissioning specialist and Building Control inspectors.
  • Monitor completion of snagging with a view to completing commissioning and handover simultaneously.

  • Engage in CPD activities regularly in order to continue to learn and grow and be up to date with the latest technologies and methods being utilised in the Building Services Industry.
  • Achieve Professional status as a CIBSE Technician Engineer, or Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer.
  • Actively contribute to successful teamwork within the project team.
  • Continue to develop own knowledge and skills.
  • Support the development of colleagues' knowledge and skills.

  • IT Literate to MS Word , Excel to a minimum of Level 2 (preferably level 3).
  • General Computer Literacy and Keyboard skills to VQ Level 3.
  • Ability to utilise Asta Power Project and MS Project to minimum of Level 2 intermediate level.

  • Accurate technical administration and record keeping skills.

Desired qualifications

  • Educated to HND or BEng in Building Services Engineering.
  • IOSH 1 day Working safely.
  • B&ES(CSCS) Competency card - Engineer.
  • A minimum of an HND/HNC in Building Services related Engineering or BEng/MEng Building Services Engineering.
  • English and maths capabilities at a minimum level of GCSE grade B/6 or equivalent.
  • Experience in Construction related Engineering(desirable).
