TheTestAnalystApprenticewillwork alongside experiencedFunctional Test, Performance Test and Test Environment and DataAnalysts toassist in the successful delivery of testing across the University's diversesuiteof IT Systems and Applications.

Through testingthey will contribute towardsprovidingtheeffectivedelivery of fit for purpose IT solutions which meet business needsthroughdelivery acrossthe entire lifecycle of testing (planning, preparation, specification, execution and completion).

The apprentice will undertake assignments across project and/or service functions as required.
Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Duties Dependent upon assignment:
  • Supports the technical analysis of specifications to determine test requirements. Assists with defining the requirements for environment, data, resources and tools.
  • Assists in the production of test scripts (including automated test scripts and packages) to test new and amended software.
  • Reviews test results and modifies tests if necessary.
  • Contributes to progress updates, and documents test failures and successes compared with pre-defined criteria, creating traceability records, from test cases back to requirements, in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Assists with the co-ordination, planning and management of Test Environments and Data used by IT Services.
  • Helps to ensure test environment proving activities such as Smoke Testing areundertakenand that Test Environments are fit for purpose. Assist with raising issues with the provisioning teams and the resolution of any defects.
  • Works within a defined organisation governance framework.
  • Helps to record work with using the appropriate standards, processes and methods/tools.
  • Works with customers and stakeholders, seeking to develop and enhance relationships
  • Arranges and prepares client/customer meetings, as well, as helps to facilitate stakeholder consultation/engagement sessions
  • Contributes to briefings and presentations about their relevance and potential value to the organisation.
  • Post holders are required to familiarise themselves with the University's Equality and Diversity policies and to actively support these wherever possible.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the IT Services Values of: One IT Team, Enabling Others and Customer First. Proactively working to ensure the appropriate behaviours are embedded and maintained in support of the identified values.
  • Be aware of and work within the constraints of the University Health and Safety, Data Protection, and Confidentiality policies, bringing to the attention of management any issues arising.

  • A passion forFunctional/Non FunctionalTesting, preferably within an IT environmentand a desire to work in a customer facing role.
