This position is perfect for those looking to get astart in the world of IT and Software Development. The role will give you a broad insight into applications management in a supportive environment that will work with you to develop your skills and industry experience. Responsibilities will include:
  • Workingin our support and development teams as part of the day-to-day operations of the account
  • Dealing with customer queries and requests
  • Helpingresolve IT incidents
  • Writingprograms articulating system design, using defined coding standards and best practices
  • Documentingsystem design (and/or comments within the code) and system interfaces (and/or appropriate coding comments)
  • Usingsoftware debugging and development toolsets, for example Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Diagnosingfaults and fixes errors (as part of support activities)
  • Unit tests developed code and fixes defects (as part of development activities
  • Followingguidelines to ensure all code is under version control
  • Helpingthe teams responsible for implementing solutions (and IT changes)
  • Performingother tasks defined by manager

Throughout the apprenticeship you will be working within teams supporting, developing and testing components within larger applications and systems.

Each placement will last 1 to 2 months, allowing you to gain experience in different teams within a software support and development account.

The target for the last 4 months of your placement is for you to work on a larger project as part of you graduating your apprenticeship and attaining your Level 4 Software Development qualification.

You will carry out a range of defined core operational, technical and administrative activities within a managed service account, linked to one of the UK's largest Financial Services companies.

Desired qualifications

  • At least five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above(or equivalent qualifications) including maths, English and either IT or Science.
  • Have either a minimum of two A Levels,a Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification,Level 3 BTEC(or equivalent qualifications)
