DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY

S&D are looking for an Apprentice Graphic Applicator to work in our busy graphics department. This is a small and friendly team, it can be very demanding but also very rewarding. You will have the opportunity to work on some very prestigious projects and  learn about a variety of materials including how to apply digital prints & vinyl to various substrates and vehicles.

We are looking for a physically fit apprentice to support our busy Graphics Team.  Main duties will include:

  • Preparing and storing materials within the warehouse, ready for use.
  • Storing completed work ready to be delivered to the customers
  • Learning to use the Laminating machine to produce signs on behalf of the customer
  • Work closely with account handlers
  • Report to both Department and Production Managers, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure work area is kept tidy, clean and adheres to all Health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with the moving of work from one area to another and ensure it is packaged correctly for transportation.
  • Use machinery with appropriate training, which may include fork lift.

This will be a varied role and you will be asked to assist in other areas of the business in times of demand.

WAGE

£3.90 per hour.

Overtime will be paid at time and a half for any work over 40 hours a week.

HOURS

Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM

1 x 30 minute unpaid lunch break per day

2 x 15 minute paid breaks per day

SKILLS REQUIRED

Have a good attention to detail and be methodical and neat in the work you produce.

Ability to work in a busy and pressurised environment which can be demanding and stressful.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Grade C or above at GCSE Maths & English

TRAINING PROVIDED

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

ADDITIONAL DETAIL

As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
