We offer a direct, fully funded pathway to a professional qualification and runs over a six year period, combining "on the job" training and university study on a day release program.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Structures Degree Apprentice to join our team and start their career as a Structural Engineer.

This role is progressive and will develop as the apprentice gains more skills, knowledge and experience through their work and study, mentored by our in-house Chartered Engineers.

Initial duties of the Apprentice:
  • Production of Revit Models
  • Preparing technical sketches to allow Revit technicians to produce structural drawings
  • Assisting senior engineers on site with dimensional surveys
  • Once confident, monitoring and inspecting works undertaken by contractors
  • Delivering projects on time and within the budget's hours allowed -identifying projects where additional hours have been spent
  • Responding to incoming queries from clients and builders
  • Representing the business in a professional manner - this will include attendance at meetings
  • Supporting the administration of projects

Desired skills

  • Natural interest in engineering & maths and how things work
  • Good attention to detail
  • Be a good communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Enjoy problem-solving and be proactive in addressing problem issues, presenting and promoting solutions
  • Ability to organise and conduct several activities simultaneously
  • Be able to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organise projects
  • IT Literate -knowledge of Cad / Revit / BIM would be a great advantage

Desired qualifications

  • A Level BBCor
  • BTEC National Diploma DDMor
  • Access to Engineering qualifications with 15 Distinctions and 30 Merits including Maths and Physical Science creditor
  • Equivalent Level 3 qualifications worth 128 UCAS points
  • Level 3 qualifications must include maths and Physics
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs grades A-C(reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above) including maths and English or equivalentqualifications
  • We welcome qualifications from around the world. English language qualifications for international students: IELTS score of 6.0orCambridge Proficiency or Advanced Grade C

Future prospects

Initially you will be office-based, with occasional survey visits with senior Engineers.

As your experience and confidence grow, we would encourage you to manage your own projects and attend surveys independently.
