We currently have opportunities at ourHerefordsiteto start in September 2019 to support our Chicken operations. You will be released on week block residentials for each module to study at Harper Adams University, near Telford. While you will initially be based at Hereford, there may be a requirement to support other sites during your apprenticeship with us and therefore a valid UK driving licence is essential.

Emphasis for thisrole is on food safety, legal procedures, compliance and food quality. Working closely with the Technical, production and NPD teams, this role will offer exposure to work in the following:
  • Supporting the technical team to monitor and ensure compliance with Food Safety and Quality Procedures in accordance with Legislation, internal Quality Management Systems, BRC requirements, and Customer requirements
  • Involvement in the risk assessment of processes and/or product changes
  • Supporting organisation of microbiological and organoleptic sampling and report findings
  • Internal taste panels including shelf life assessment, customer panels and benchmarking
  • Origination of quality standards
  • Customer Specifications (shelf life, nutritional, ingredient declarations)
  • Working with Auditors / supporting during audits, and auctioning outcome reports accordingly to drive GMP standards up
  • BRC audit & Retailer audit preparation
  • Validation of HACCP CCP's.
  • Participating in project work, as appropriate, to help drive continuous improvement.

This apprenticeship is a full-time permanent role from day one along with a competitive startingsalary.   • To be successful you will need to be enthusiastic and well-disciplined as our degree apprenticeship is heavily focused on attitude and behaviour
  • In addition, you will need to exhibit initiative, be reliable and conscientious
  • The ability and willingness to travel to different offices and client sites is required, and you will have a passion for product development and technology


Desired qualifications

To become a Food Industry Technical Professional apprenticeyou will need:
  • 7 GCSE's A*-C (9-4) or equivalents including maths and English
  • A Minimum of 88 UCAS points at A Levels (ideally a science or food related subject)
  • Or an equivalent BTEC / City & Guilds Level 3 Extended Diploma or equivalent qualification at MMM grade/level 3 apprenticeship in Food technology
