Our Network Capacity Planner Apprenticeship Scheme welcomes both women and men who share a passion for problem solving, typically using IT software to develop a variety of network solutions across our organisation.

You'll be trained by your scheme mentor and other workmates to deliver cost effective and appropriately scaled network solutions to expand our network and move with the ever-changing needs of our business and customers.

All our Apprenticeship Schemes are offered on permanent contracts. And, around 90% of apprentices stay on with us - while others will have gained transferable skills that are sought after elsewhere.

Let's talk about what you'll be doing...

As part of the scheme you will be helping us develop the 12-18-month Network Capacity Plan. This will include looking at space and power at a site level, as well as working closely with our Design, Build and Deploy teams.

We'll also need you to check capacity for business orders and provide costs, proactively identifying opportunities to optimise performance and capacity across the network.

How are you going to get there?

As a technical role, you'll need to have an A-level in a STEM based subject and GCSEs in maths and English (Grades A-C/9-4) or equivalents. A general understanding of routed and switched networks would be useful (but don't worry, we'll teach you everything you need to know!).

Knowledge of techniques used in analysing, assessing and resolving complex technology problems would be welcome but are not deal breakers. We're just as interested in what makes people want to join one of the UK's most forward thinking and fun-loving companiesand your passion and determination will count for a lot.

You will be working with data a lot in your role, so confidence with MS Excel and Microsoft Office is highly desirable.

You'll need to be relentless in your pursuit of results, able to work alone or as part of a team and constantly coming up with ways that will make our customers' lives brighter, easier... and a bit more fun!

So, what can we do for you?

During our award-winning schemes, you'll gain all the experience and exposure to our leading business practices that you'll need to start an exciting career at Virgin Media - and we'll pay you a decent salary with amazing benefits too!

In 2017, we announced our long-term vision of achieving 50/50 gender parity by 2025. It's super-important for us to reflect equality and diversity in our workforce, especially for STEM* based subjects - and that's why we're encouraging men and women to hone their technical skills with us.

We're looking for talented people who are technically minded, great communicators and have a head full of innovative ideas. Our network is fast, efficient and prepared for the future - and you could say the same about our planners!

Join Virgin Media... Come and be a part of something special!

(*STEM based subjects are those that fall under Science, Technology, Engineering and maths disciplines).
