We are now looking for a degree apprentice to join our contract team in a trainee project management role. You will be based in our projects office learning all the necessary estimating, quotation and project management skills that you will require to develop your understanding of the contract furnishing industry. In addition, you will gain experience of manufacturing in the home furnishing industry. Once you have gained a broad understanding of our systems and business you will be encouraged to develop into a junior project management role. Further development into senior project management would be expected depending on ability and enthusiasm. The position could also provide the foundation required to develop into a broader management role in the future.

Our project managers are responsible for costing, quoting and controlling major projects such as Hotels, Care homes, Student accommodation and bulk housing projects from first contact to completion.

Our project managers also develop a broad understanding of the supply base to the industry and are responsible for ordering all components and advising clients on the suitability of products and designs within a scheme.

Responsibilities

Throughout the year, a PM's responsibilities will typically involve:
  • Liaising with contract customers and suppliers by phone, email and in person
  • Liaising with internal departments including production planning
  • Control of sampling
  • Preparation of costing and quotations
  • Diary control of surveyors and fitters
  • Organising installations
  • Order inputting/invoicing
  • Ordering from suppliers
  • Maintaining reporting procedures
  • General assistance with all departmental activities
  • Visits to project sites, customers and exhibitions where required

Desired qualifications

  • Candidates for the Degree Apprenticeship should have a minimum of 104 UCAS tariff points at A2 (Grades BCC) or an equivalent e.g. BTEC DMM
  • You will also require maths and English Language GCSE grade A*-C/9-4

  • Project managers have frequent contact with customers and suppliers in the course of their work

  • Travel to attend trade shows may be required occasionally, as well as visits to suppliers in the UK and overseas
