Processing building regulation applications and carry out site inspections for a range of developments to ensure that requirements are being met under direction of the Building Control Manager.

To give appropriate advice and guidance to the general public, Councillors, developers and applicants under the direction of the Building Control Manager.

To prepare reports for submission to the Building Control Manager as required.

Undertake data entry and general administrative duties when required.

Investigating reports of unauthorised building work under direction of the Building Control Manger.

Attending a part time degree course appropriate to Building Control and demonstrate suitable progression towards achieving a final qualification in becoming a Chartered Building Control Surveyor.

Carry out such other duties as may be required by the Chief Executive appropriate to your skills and to a level of responsibility not exceeding the grade on which you are appointed. Desired qualifications

You must have a minimum of 3 A-levels at Grade C or higher (or equivalent), or a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Construction or Property related discipline and be available to start early September 2019.Prior to starting you will also be required to have a Skype interview with the training provider and complete an online assessment for maths, English and Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.

Future prospects

This is a 4 year fixed term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship and there will be the opportunity to apply for the position of Area Building Control Surveyor upon successful completion.

Things to consider

The role may at times involve working at height and in confined spaces.
