Dimensions:
  • Own & maintain key project planning documents including delivery timelines
  • To lead and facilitate excellent communication between all project sponsors and our digital delivery teams regarding progress, changes and delivery phases
  • Pro-actively review all new work requests and the scheduling of future work in conjunction with the Digital team
  • To promote and develop our own Digital change projects including the day to day ownership of a forthcoming Digital Transformation project
  • Harness a variety of analytic tools to monitor and report on website performance issues and the oversight of post-delivery testing
  • Liaising with external partners and suppliers as required
  • Taking minutes for all project meetings, and circulating as required / following up actions

Context:
  • The Digital team provide support to a wide range of leading- edge departments across the RYA. We not only deliver organisation wide programmes but also those specific to individual teams. To do this effectively we need this post holder to help drive both critical digital projects as well as oversee quality assurance
  • At present we are going through a major period of change in terms of our future digital offering and this role would have a great involvement in this exciting transformation process whilst acquiring many additional leading -edge skills

Accountabilities:
  • To proactively oversee all projects from inception to completion as the key point of contact with both the digital team and the project sponsors
  • To help schedule all project, change requests and post launch bugs with the development team and provide oversight on timely delivery to an agreed scheduling
  • Lead the development planning meeting to coordinate workflow and highlight key issues to the Digital Manager
  • To manage diaries and meeting appointments across all project threads, and key technical and business staff during specific projects
  • To maintain, update and make available project overviews, timelines, risk logs and action logs for all specified projects
  • To provide updates to specific project contributors for overdue or delayed actions
  • To provide support for Quality Assurance Testing, and User Acceptance Testing across all specified projects including time management and testing logs
  • To provide backup phone coverage for the digital website support team (external calls)


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Excellent written communication skills, accurate spelling and grammar
  • Accurate keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills, especially on the telephone
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
  • Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Understanding of databases (training will be given on RYA systems)

Not essential but would be an advantage:
  • Knowledge of sailing and boating
  • Knowledge of project management software, tools and techniques

Desired qualifications

  • Typically, candidates will have achieved a grade C/4 or above in at least 5 GCSEs (or equivalents) including English and mathematics, and hold a minimum of 48 UCAS points, or equivalent
  • Ideally Educated to A level or equivalent

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies.

The Wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.

  • The company are located in Hamble please ensure you are able to travel to the location prior to applying
  • You will need to hold a current lean driving license and own your own vehicle (due to travelling to various sites)
  • During the first 18 months you will complete the Level 4 Project Manager Apprenticeship Standard
