As a new Quantity Surveyor at Huntley Cartwright you will learn how to be a cost consultant within the construction industry.

You will learn about and will undertake a wide range of duties, including:
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting the cost of many different types of building project
  • Developing good working relations with people of all levels involved in the construction industry, including clients, architects, engineers, contractors and other professional people
  • Time spent away from the office, visiting Clients, fellow professionals and construction projects
  • Preparation of documentation specific to this profession, including cost estimates, feasibility studies, bills of quantities, tender documents, contract documents, financial reporting and the preparation of final accounts

A Chartered Surveyor is a well-respected individual. The future for a hardworking and diligent Quantity Surveyor can lead to Practice leadership and/or a senior position in many different organisations.

In order to join our team there are certain criteria that must be met:
  • Numeracy, literacy and IT skills
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels, well-developed sense of fairness, logical reasoning, good presentation skills
  • Strong team working skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Personal qualities

  • Able to work to deadlines and prioritise
  • Keen to develop and learn about the construction industry
  • Successfully balancing working and studying with high levels of self-motivation and commitment is required
  • Flexible approach as the position mightrequire the candidate to work at various locations throughout the South and living away from home may be required

Desired qualifications

Entry requirements
  • A Level BBB(or equivalent) or;
  • BTEC National Diploma DDM(or equivalent) or;
  • Access to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions 21 Merits(or equivalent) or;
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications (or equivalent) worth 128 UCAS points
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including maths and English

Advanced entry

For those holding a Level 4 qualification with specific grades (or equivalent), it may be possible to enter onto Level 5 of the course and 'top up' your existing qualification to a full degree:
