This role involves working in the electronic laboratories at the university with access to a large range of industry specified electronic equipment and key responsibilities will include:
  • Electronic Workshop techniques
  • Familiarisation with various electronic components
  • An introduction to design using a proprietary CAD package
  • Reading and producing technical documentation
  • Maintenance, repair, assembling and prototyping
  • Use of precision measuring/testing equipment including the use of a voltmeter and an introduction to signal generators and oscilloscopes
  • Electrical safety testing
  • Safety and its role in the workplace

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the post holder will be in a strong position to apply for positions of full employment at UCL.

Things to consider

The Apprentice will undertake between 2 to 4 years training, depending on entry qualifications, both in the workplace and with our approved training provider, East Surrey College, to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become a qualified Electronic Engineering Technician.
