Day to day duties will include:
  • Design and implement equipment that adhere to national security standards in order to support the systems and services used by the organisation
  • Installation, maintenance and support of IT equipment including (but not restricted to) laptops, telecoms equipment, printers, workstations. Some cabling work will also be required (after training)
  • Management of imaging of workstations and laptops
  • Assist with in-house software development, designing computer programs as well as website apps
  • Test IT Systems before production rollout
  • Assist in Penetration Testing
  • Work with clinical systems such as 'SystmOne', develop and maintain
  • Provide assistance to deliver an outstanding level of service to your Customer base, & remotely supporting our retail sector, by providing First Line Support
  • Liaise with contractors or external suppliers and clearly communicate technical issues
  • Undertaking ad-hoc requests and tasks as and when required
  • Balance a varied workload and prioritise tasks as they arise

Propose ideas to implement cost savings or efficiencies within the company, such as suggesting methods to communicate with clients better, or reducing the company's reliance on paper communications.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Essential
  • The candidate must be confident and able to communicate either orally or in writing to a range of audiences
  • The candidate must have an interest in working in the IT sphere, and a desire to forge a career in this area
  • The candidate must have strong IT skills, with an excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft office range of products
  • The candidate must have a basic understanding of networking, both from a hardware and software side
  • The candidate must be a self-starter, have a strong attention to detail and enjoy problem solving
  • The candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently or as part of a team as required
  • The candidate must be Calm under pressure, and be able to show numerical and analytical fluency with knowledge and skill in the application of statistical analysis to GSCE or equivalent standard (as a minimum)

Desirable
  • The candidate should have knowledge and understanding of computer programming, and have undertaken some programming in any Object-oriented language
  • The candidate should have knowledge of how the internet works, covering HTML, XML, and web scripting languages
  • The candidate should have some experience of working within an office or other computerised environment
  • Any exposure to virtualisation would be of massive benefit
