The applicant will be based at our Castle Bromwich office but will work generally on customers sites across the region. They may also need to work from time to time in other parts of the country when engaged in project work. This is a technical role and the applicant will use PC based engineering tools to design, test and commission building management system (BMS) to control commercial building processes such as heating and ventilation systems, lighting, door access and energy management within all sorts of buildings such as schools, hospitals, universities, airports, offices etc.

The skills you will learn will take you in to the specialist field of BMS engineering and include:
  • Control panel building / modification
  • Understanding and designing electrical wiring diagrams
  • Understanding of Electrical and Electronic systems
  • Understanding of mechanical systems e.g. boilers, control valves, chilled water systems and ventilation etc.
  • IT skills and networking
  • Graphic programming
  • Understanding of control strategy diagrams including logic and analogue functions
  • Testing and proving of new installations
  • Fault finding
  • Maintaining BMS controls

Desired qualifications

Level 3 qualifications in relevant subjects, e.g. engineering, maths, physics, andgrade 4/C or above (or equivalent) to include maths and English Language.

Things to consider

This role will take you to many sites and possibly away from home on occasion. You may be expected to travel independently and you will attend product training courses as well as attending Make UK in Aston. Working hours are flexible in this industry and it will not always be possible to be home at the same time every day.
