The internal audit team is responsible for providing independent assurance that risk management, governance and control processes are efficient, compliant, work effectively and support the ambitions of the Council. The team delivers a valued, professional service and are looking to build an effective in-house anti-fraud function. The team is responsible for providing assurance across all areas of the Council and operations from traditional financial internal audit reviews such as cash and banking processes to other areas such as new system developments, IT systems and Policy and Planning.
  • The Internal Audit apprentice will support the work of the experienced internal audit team with promoting and developing a comprehensive audit function and pro-active anti-fraud service.
  • The apprentice will assist the audit team in undertaking a full range of audits, providing advice and assistance to internal customers and researching and investigating standards and regulations
  • You will be supported with your personal development and receive on-the-job training in addition to the vocational training

This is an 18-month level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner apprenticeship, based in the workplace (in central Eastleigh, Hampshire) through an apprenticeship provided by Kaplan. Kaplan will provide the apprentice with regular access to resources and support via talent coaches and personalised learning plans. The successful candidate will complete the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Certificate in Internal Audit and Business Risk which will give you a thorough grounding in the practice and principles of audit, governance, risk and assurance. Following completion of the IIA Certificate, you will be enrolled on and complete the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification Part 1 - Essentials of Internal Audit. This is a globally recognised qualification that provides a firm foundation for a career in internal auditing. The CIA will be delivered through access to an e-learning system with high quality content and one intensive workshop. At the end of your studies, you will complete a three-hour multiple-choice exam.

Desired qualifications

GCSE's including Maths and English grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent)
