Key responsibilities will include:
  • Participation in creative meetings
  • Organisation of assets
  • Office management support Issuing and managing press and influencer invitations
  • Drafting copy to a brief
  • Answering incoming calls and taking messages where required
  • Postal duties when/where required
  • Maintaining mailing lists and contact databases
  • Media monitoring, i.e. reading the daily newspapers to look for client coverage, scanning our media monitoring service for coverage
  • Coverage saving, i.e. scanning, screen grabbing or audio recording
  • Research into areas such as geographical locations, food or drink types, music genres and scenes and other trends
  • Contributing to PR 'sell ins' to journalists via the phone and drafting press releases
  • Support for event prep and on-site
  • Additionally the role may need to provide support at events which may take place evenings or weekends, however time in lieu for such activities will be taken into account

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Previous experience is a strong advantage in a similar role, but above all, it is the personality. You will be provided with training and help in every task you undertake.

Personal qualities

  • Excellent written communication skills including spelling, punctuation and grammar are essential
  • Excellent communication skills via telephone and face-to-face are also essential
  • Basic understanding of G Suite - Google Drive, Gmail, Google Sheet, Google Docs or similar
  • An interest in, and knowledge of the media printed, online and broadcast is essential
  • An interest in, and knowledge of music, entertainment and other forms of popular culture is essential

Desired qualifications

GCSE's (or equivalent) English Language and Maths at grade 4 and above (equivalent to A - C) is desired.

Future prospects

The employer is looking for the Apprentice to transition in to a full-time member of staff, should a relevant vacancy be available at the end of the Apprenticeship. Previous apprentices have been hired as full-time employees by the employer, in the past.
