Key responsibilities:
  • To produce quality installation and construction for their particular trade from Build Quality Checklists through to Home Quality Inspection
  • To monitor and help control Direct Trades
  • Ensure the project achieves production targets along with Site Managers programme
  • Work alongside Apprentice Managers, Colleges and Approved Training Providers and to formulate key milestone targets and Individual Development Plans for each apprentice
  • Constant liaison with Apprentice Managers and Site Managers regarding training and development programmes
  • Monitor Health and Safety and adhere to Taylor Wimpey Procedures
  • The ability to work in a well organised and accurate way and to work as part of a team
  • Planning and arranging applicable TW courses and training with Site Manager for Direct Labour force
  • Can pay close attention to detail to ensure compliance with NHBC Construction Quality Reports
  • Feedback and take part in 3/6/9-month reviews and annual appraisals
  • Line Management responsibilities including Holiday Approvals, uniforms and training
  • Encourage Direct Trade employees to express and discuss their ideas, and encourage them to develop their skills base


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • A natural communicator who can support and motivate team members
  • Experience of line management - particularly around interviewing, selection and performance management
  • IT Skills - to support training and development activities for apprentices in particular
  • You will have knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly in respect to Safeguarding of Young People
  • Experience within a mentoring environment
  • Ability to plan and make decisions with a customer focus and business awareness
  • A full clear understanding of working drawings with the added ability of explaining and delivering the understanding to others
  • First Aid qualified (as Apprentices may be working in a compound or Academy which is isolated from the main site therefore this provision is needed
