We are a family business, based in Kent. Founded in 1968, we operate from our purpose-built site set in a prime location immediately adjacent to the A299 which links the M2 and Ramsgate/Thanet. 2.8 miles to the east of M2/A2 junction, which serves Canterbury and Dover to the south and M25 to London and the west.

Our experienced and motivated transport management team provide a comprehensive and professional service to existing and potential customers. Accessible and accountable, our commitment to quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and continuous improvement is guaranteed.

Our freight forwarding team operates the movement of all export/import ships. This includes all necessary documentation, for the relevant customs authorities.

DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to complete their Business Administration Level 2 with Young Brothers Transport Ltd.

As the Apprentice Transport Planner you will be working closely alongside the Transport Manager to provide administrative assistance that supports the smooth-running of a service used by high-profile clients across the county.

Your role will be fast-paced and varied, and will equip you with a range of skills that will support you throughout your career. For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to progress throughout the company upon completion of the apprenticeship.

This is a fast-paced and varied role providing administrative support to operations. Tasks will include – but are not limited to – the following:

– Monitoring and maintaining all relevant statistics, including KPIs

-Collating, filing and archiving all paperwork as required

– Dealing with customer enquiries via telephone and e-mail

– Monitoring vehicle mileage and updating the database with this information

– Shadowing and providing administrative support to the Transport Manager

– Working alongside other teams and sharing any relevant information to support the smooth-running of the service

-There is scope for your role to evolve with experience.

WAGE
£200 per week.
Hourly wage will rise from £5 to £7 p/h after six months

HOURS
40 working hours per week:
Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00
Includes an half hour lunchbreak each day (unpaid)

SKILLS REQUIRED
Good literacy and communication skills 
Punctual 
Confident telephone manner

PERSONAL QUALITIES
The successful applicant should be enthusiastic and keen, and able to present themselves professionally.

Due to the location of the workplace, access to own vehicle is strongly recommended.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Maths – GCSE Grade D / 3 minimum
English – GCSE Grade D/ 3 minimum

TRAINING PROVIDED
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
