Supported by an abundance of structured and planned training, you will be made to feel as though you are growing and evolving in the role every day.

You are expected to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to react to operational challenges to provide cover for colleagues as necessary.

The Cyber Information Security and Privacy Apprentice is responsible for:
  • Providing administrative assistance to the delivery and creation of the phishing exercises and Cyber moments
  • Responding to Security Operations Centre (SOC) identified alerts, escalating these to the defined incident management structure
  • Providing regular reports to the Cyber Security Manager, also other key participants on various security and networking statistics
  • Performing / Assist in vulnerability scanning and highlighting any concerns or issues raised within the results of the scans
  • Supporting the Technical Support specialist to manage and maintain the Tideway Information Systems technical risk register
  • Working with the Technical Support specialist to provide support and where appropriate administration or changes to ourNetwork infrastructure; Firewall, Access Control, IDS/IPS and Web Security
  • Escalating significant support issues to the service provider aligned with the incident management process
  • Assist the Technical Support specialist whilst working with the relevant back-up provider, ensuring all Tideway environments are protected
  • Supporting teams on technical aspects of the various programmes of work
  • Providing team administration support to the IT team as required

The post-holder will be expected to provide occasional multi-site and out of hours support.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Experience of delivering customer-facing services in an IT function
  • ITIL Service Management qualification, including development of relevant reporting for stakeholders

Essential skills:
  • Strong Technical IT knowledge
  • Basic understanding of Information Security for businesses
  • Basic understanding of Risk Management and Control frameworks
  • Strong desire to learn and a keenness to perform technical and non-technical audits
  • Ability to provide support services for iOS mobile devices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure when required and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Strong customer service skills, with a desire to put the customer first
  • Ability to provide professional support in a customer facing environment

Desired qualifications

Minimum desired qualifications:
  • A-Levels in ICT/Computing or similar subject
  • Or an Apprenticeship in a similar subject (this must be at least the level below the planned programme)
  • Or an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
  • Or a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the possibility of progression within the company.
