Duties to include:
  • Analysis of client information using both Microsoft Excel and 3rd Party Software such as Sage/Quickbooks to enable completion of accounts working paper templates; importing of summary accounting information onto proprietary software to facilitate production of financial statements
  • Preparation of VAT calculations and completion of VAT returns for various clients under MTD
  • Assisting with the preparation of management accounts for various clients
  • Running payroll schemes for several clients, using our specific Iris Payroll Software and submitting information online to HMRC
  • The above duties will involve interaction with clients via email/telephone in order to obtain the necessary information required and resolve any queries which may arise
  • Liaising/communicating with HMRC (various departments) and clients directly
  • Helping out with general office duties/answering telephone enquiries
  • Helping out with general administrative duties as and when required

Apprentices must show commitment to the following:
  • To achieve apprenticeship framework (Functional Skills, NVQ and Technical Certificate) within the specified time frame
  • Attend the apprenticeship induction programme
  • Attend all of the training sessions for the programme whenever necessary
  • Undertake any other required development work as part of the apprenticeship programme as requested
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff

Apprenticeships start throughout the year and are open to any age of candidate.

The successful candidate would benefit from previous experience in the following areas:
  • VAT returns
  • Costings & Management Accounting
  • Trial Balance
  • Financial Statements

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE grades at A*-C/9-4 in maths and English or equivalent
  • Level 3 in AAT
  • Experience of working in an accountancy/office environment would be preferable for this post

Future prospects

For the suitable candidate, there is the potential for possible progression within the organisation upon completion of the apprenticeship.
