What you will do in your working day

You will provide strategic financial advice to HMT in its Spending Review (SR) budget settlement

You will:
  • Prepare, analyse and interpret financial information to inform decision-makers and assure them of our cost base.
  • Build working relationships and apply problem solving skills to identify and analyse savings opportunities / financial pressures
  • Combine meaningful financial and non-financial analysis to write reports
  • Manipulate data to complete budget / bid templates to inform SR negotiations

The training you will be getting

You will be supported in studying towards the CIMA professional qualification over the course of three years. This is a globally recognised and highly respected accounting qualification which supports a wide range of exciting career prospects inside and outside government.

CIMA tuition will be provided by Arch Apprentices, First Intuition and AVADO, and most training will be online and self-study.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

At the successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will remain in post to continue to provide financial advice and assistance to the Corporate Centre Group. You will be eligible to apply for Civil Service jobs within the Department / across Whitehall and continue to develop your skills through our Learning and Development offerings.
